What should I use to prep my skin?

An exfoliating towel and gold Dial soap or something mild or similar.  Do not apply any lotions or oils of any kind prior to your tanning session.  We strongly recommend against using any kid of scrub product due to possible oil content.

When do I get my mani/pedi?

Ideally, no less than 24 hours prior to your first tanning session.  Be sure all lotions or creams have been scrubbed off prior to tanning.

How long before my first session should I wax (if I want to)?

This is not recommended, however, if you must, get it done at least 48 hours prior to your first tanning session.  Shaving is best as waxing may leave a residue that creates a barrier between your skin and the tanning solution

Should I shave my entire body?

It is recommended as the bronzers can clump hair together creating and uneven complexion.

Do you tan my face? What do I do about makeup?

We tan your face with a much more “natural” tanning solution.  It will blend much nicer with makeup.  You need to wipe your face with a makeup wipe before makeup application.  Men: do not wipe your face; leave the bronzer on unless you are applying makeup.

What do I wear to my tanning session?

Dark, loose fitted clothing – cotton or polyester is best.  Zip ups, long pants, loose pullover shirts are perfect.  NO: dresses, shorts, jeans or tank tops.  DO NOT SLEEP NAKED!  Your arms and legs must be covered and separated – robes are not the best choice.  Skin-on-skin contact can created imperfections that are not always fixable.

Men may wear a black posing suite or sock if they’re in bodybuilding or boxer briefs if competing in physique only.

Women may (and should) tan nude with a female Spray Tech to avoid tan lines.

DO NOT put your suit on until AFTER you have been sprayed the last time before your stage appearance and wait as long as possible to put on your suit after this session.  Be careful putting it on.

Women – when using the bathroom, line the seat with bath tissue and sit; do not hover unless you’ve mastered it.  Keep in mind that the tan is water soluble and will leave lines if you aren’t tidy.  Some women use Dixi cups with the bottom but out to avoid run lines.

Where/when do we get our oil/suit glue service?

30 minutes prior to your stage appearance.  We will be backstage to help you with this.

Can I get touchups if I have water spots?

Yes – please go to the tanning location and sign in.  No notification is needed.

How much do I tip my Spray Tech?

At your discretion – typically 15-20%

APPOINTMENT #1

Shower before your tanning appointment shaving FIRST!  You may use a light shaving cream but be sure to exfoliate after shaving.  Any residue left behind by the cream may act as a berrier between your skin and the tanning solution.  Be sure to exfoliate your ENTIRE body.  Any dry, uneven layers of skin left behind will create “splotches” (this has nothing to do with the tanning solution or how it is applied).

Come to your appointment with CLEAN SKIN.  This means NO lotion, makekup, perfumes, deodorant, etc.

Your face may be tanned during your first session (men may get their face tanned twice).

After your session, be very careful around liquids.  Any contact with water will dissolve the tan and create marks.

You may be sleeping in your tan overnight – if you do, it is best to sleep in the same clothes you put on after your tanning session.  Be somewhat conscious of where/how you position yourself.  For example, you don’t want your palms to be tanned so try to keep your hands away from your body.  Try not to make skin-to-skin contact with any limbs to avoid uneven markings – try to keep in mind that holding your arms in a bent position may create slight unevenness on the inner elbow.  (Don’t overthink it).  If you have multiple tanning sessions on the same day, the same rules apply.

APPOINTMENT #2 - last tan before your stage appearance

DO NOT SHOWER!  You may shower AFTER the show.

Your 2nd session will be the morning of the show (or at least 2 hours AFTER your 1st session if they’re on the same day).
